Abstract visual stories from dreams and the subconscious. My paintings gradually and organically evolve through many layers of translucent colour, pigment, and glaze
Biography/Details

BIOGRAPHY

I had an itinerant army childhood, moving homes and schools in the UK and abroad often within the year. This has led to a life-long curiosity about other cultures and a need to travel the world.

I studied textiles in Hornsey and Croydon art colleges in the late revolutionary 1960s, mosaics in the Ecole de Beaux-Arts in Paris in the early 70s, followed by a graduate Art Therapy diploma. I practiced as an art therapist in psychiatric institutions and schools until the late 1980s.

With children at school and wishing to work from home, I set up a business, making and painting folding screens to commission, painting and antiquing furniture, and creating murals and paint effects in clients' homes.

The acquisition of an etching press led to several years of practice as a printmaker. However, a traumatic event in my life and the subsequent longing to paint in order to cope with emotional turmoil led to me taking the Art2Life training with Nicholas Wilton from California in 2016. From that moment, painting became my life. Nowadays, the combination of self-expression through my present work and my past profession as an art therapist has become a personal tool for healing.

For the third year now, I have taken part in an artist's residency in Mexico. This residency has led to a body of colourful new work inspired by the experience of spending time in such a vibrant environment, amongst inspiring and wonderful people.
