Biography/Details

Living in Felixstowe is a constant inspiration for my art. Whether it is walking by the sea or along the rivers Deben and Orwell there is always something beautiful to see. However, I don't want to recreate the views that I love but I would rather paint how I fee when I am in these wonderful places.

I am originally from Birmingham and spent most of my life in the midlands. In 2020 we were ready for a new adventure and moved to Woodbridge and then three years later to the coast.

After many years as a self employed jeweller and glass artist, I started to paint in 2021 and now spend more time on my art than making.

Joining Suffolk Open Studios has allowed me to show my artwork at exhibitions all over the county and to make connections with galleries and buyers. More importantly it has introduced me to lots of lovely artists and made me feel part of a wonderful ,creative community in this beautiful county.

I use a variety of substrates and enjoy painting on Canvas, paper and wooden panels using acrylic paint with spreaders and scrapers and rarely use brushes. I don't like the lines they leave in the paint. Mono printing with a gelli plate is a new interest for me and I use it to create silhouettes of plant stems and seedheads on tissue then layering them in collages with painted papers.

I am not opening my studio this year as it's a cellar with rickety stairs. However please feel free to contact me if you would like to see my work in person.
