Suffolk born, and feels most at home in the county. I live in Ipswich and work in a purpose built studio. Fast approaching retirement from a career in graphic design, my original love of drawing and painting takes focus. Supported and encouraged by parents and teachers as a child, I studied at the Ipswich Art School (High Street) during which the award of Distinction and Upper Pass was given.
Holding successful exhibitions at 142 Gallery in Felixstowe, Ipswich, Snape, Aldeburgh, Kensington (London) and in Earsham Hall. A full archive of work can be found on the Instagram account and more limitedly within the Suffolk Open Studios website directory.
Mediums used in my work can be charcoal or graphite and I love to paint in oil. I afford the freedom to choose my subjects, they vary, I'm not limited to one. Preferring charcoal for figure drawing and oil for the outside natural world. Recently I'm discovering the freedom of contemporary imagery.
Art is the way I experience the unphysical world, to stand outside everyday things, and give meaning beyond language.
