I grew up in the Suffolk countryside and spent my childhood in wild places all over the UK. As a boy, you may have found me in my local woodland waiting for passing sparrow hawks. That love of landscape and nature has stayed with me all my life.
I studied Art and Graphic Design at West Suffolk College and later graduated from Northampton University with a degree in Fine Art. I currently work as a HLTA and art subject lead in a small primary school in Newmarket along side my own art practise.
I have worked in most 2D media as an artist, but have always loved the versatility of charcoal. Probably human’s first drawing tool has become an integral part of my practise. Making my own from various trees helps connect me to the land I depict. I am inspired by the open landscape of Suffolk; the trees that frame the farmland and the way we work the land through the changing seasons.
