After many years as a cafe owner and after a major lif event I decided to do a BA in Textile design at Norwich university of the Arts. I had been weaving for some time(self-taught), moving through a succession of more and more complex looms and I wanted to discover more about the design and fabrication of textiles. During the course I realised that only concentrationg on design, with its requrement for repeatability, was not satisfying me so at the end of my BA I applyed for an MA and was accepted.
I did one year of the MA course before deciding that it was not for me and that the art/design/craft space that I wanted to explore, was not in tune with the direction the course was taking.
Since then I have joined the 'Textiles Art Group Suffok' and have begun to weave works for exibition.
I try to always consider the enviromental and ethical impact of my work using natural sustainable fibres and natural dyes whenever possible.
I create both art works and textiles for the home and will soon be opening an online shop and selling in shops as well as exibiting with TAGS in Woodbridg and Snape.
