I am fascinated by fairy stories, the myth of creation, how we find meaning in the world. It is all beautiful, the world is beautiful and I desire to paint beauty and magic into the world.
I began to paint later in life, after leaving my job in Television Production. I began dreaming of painting large, abstract canvases. I followed the call.
I had always drawn before, black and white line drawings and sketches. I didn't go to art school, instead I left Suffolk for Brighton and Paris, but I always drew. Wherever I went.
Painting started about 14 years ago. I am in love with it.
I went to Kesgrave, then Northgate. I grew up in Suffolk and it is part of who I am. I studied English and French at Sussex, and spent a year in Paris, at the Sorbonne, or perhaps not so much at the Sorbonne, but learning the language the culture. I love to travel, to discover new places, to immerse myself in worlds.
I studied Yogic Philosophy and meditate, and it is the presence and flow, this connection that is part of what I paint. Or perhaps the painting IS yoga for me, as it is the connection between body, mind and spirit. Where there is no separation which is the joy I paint.
As part of my process I developed Wild Art Journaling which is a creative practice to connect with yourself and kick start creativity. I teach and share this process in person and off line.
