I capture open land and waterscapes focusing on light and atmosphere, drawing a connection between the calming natural environment and mindfulness. I use traditional techniques au plein air and develop these on large canvases in my studio, my work has a contemporary sensibility.
Being in nature improves our wellbeing, our mood and reduces feelings of stress. It is said that even looking at a picture of nature has the same affect. My work aims to transport the viewer into the landscape and promote a sense of wellbeing and calm in our busy days.
Being out in nature is extremely important to me, breathing deeply and enjoying the green and watery spaces around us are an antidote to our predominantly indoor lives . I have an interest in biophilic design and how to live with nature and incorporate it into our manmade environment.
