From a young age Lynne Campen has had a passion for Art and craft. She excelled in the subject at school, but regretfully was discouraged from attending art college with a view to getting a "paid job" and ended up working as a clerk in a reinsurance company. Despite this, in her late teens and early 20s Lynne continued to paint, attending evening classes and teaching herself different techniques as she experimented with a number of styles and media. She started to exhibit work in her original home county of Essex and in the Lloyds of London annual exhibition.
Today, Lynne favours oil and acrylic paints in bold colour to give an impressionist, sometimes impasto style. She tries to paint "en plein air" whenever possible. Surrounded by nature is where she gets most of her inspiration.
In 2021 Lynne took part in the Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year competition as a wildcard entry. Her art has also been seen as part of Southend’s “Hares About Town” where her entry -English Country Garden - was voted most popular amongst the public. The hare went on to sell for £10k at a charity auction.
Lynne now resides in Suffolk and exhibits with the Ipswich Arts Society.
She also sculpts wildlife from ceramic clay.
