I studied at the Ruskin School of Art 1979-82 and the Royal Academy Schools 1984-87. I received awards for landscape painting and worked in Cornwall and Bulgaria, which was funded by the British Council.
Exhibitions include Whitworth Young Contemporaries; Royal Watercolour Society; Hunting Group (Mall Galleries) and The Leicester Collection. More recently I've exhibited in East Anglia with RASEAG (Royal Academy Schools East Anglia Group) including shows in Norwich (Mandell’s Gallery and Anteros Art Foundation), Wingfield Barns, Eye, Aldeburgh (Peter Pears Gallery) & Ely (Old Fire Station).
I am primarily an oil painter inspired by my rural environment. I work from sketches as a starting point and develop ideas from them using expressive colour. I draw parallels with textiles in building up layers of contrasting areas of texture and colour with lines as connecting threads.
