Biography/Details

Inspired by life in the heart of rural Suffolk, my oil paintings explore the rhythms of the seasons and the passing of time. From cottage garden flowers and vegetable patches to birds, pets, and the people who share these spaces.

In the past year or two, my creative focus has been drawn increasingly toward memory and how we perceive and reconstruct it. Memory is fluid and fallible: it is less about making a fixed record and more like a creative act. It is endlessly fascinating and makes for an interesting backdrop when making paintings of ephemeral moments, fixing them forever in oil paints.

I use classical oil painting techniques with a contemporary twist to explore themes of memory, identity, and the passage of time. My flower paintings capture fleeting moments in nature, preserving their ephemeral beauty in a timeless way. Portraits of people and animals carry the same thread, reflecting the enduring connections that shape our sense of belonging.

I grew up in rural Suffolk and have always been drawn to art. I studied Fine Art and Art History at the Winchester School of Art and later completed a Master’s Degree in Art Criticism, Theory, and Philosophy at the University of Essex. I’ve also studied colour theory at Central St Martins and undertaken classical training under a former director of the Florence Academy of Art.

Over the years, I’ve taught Fine Art at GCSE, A Level, and BA (Hons) levels and have run workshops in oil painting alongside private tuition. Now, I focus on documenting life in the countryside through my work, capturing fleeting moments in a way that evokes lasting connections.
