My work is contemporary and representational. I work in a variety of different media including acrylics, collage and monoprint. Mark making, layering and texture are often used in one unique piece of work. I like experimenting and pushing the boundaries to develop my work further. I also enjoy working in watercolour and pastels.
I am a long standing member of the Colchester Art Society and Gainsborough's House. I exhibit my work in and around East Anglia and have shown work at
The Aldeburgh Art Gallery
Artspace, Woodbridge
The Pond Gallery, Snape
The Ipswich Art Gallery
Ballroom Arts Gallery, Aldeburgh
Firstsite, Colchester
The Old Engine Shed, Clare
Sea Pictures, Clare
The Minories, Colchester
The John Russell Gallery, Ipswich
I am lucky enough to have a studio in an old converted outbuilding in my garden. I find inspiration for my work on my doorstep - from my everyday surroundings at home, in my garden, the natural world and out in the surrounding landscape walking my dog. My choice of subject matter includes landscapes, flowers and gardens - mine in particular. My love of birds and wildlife often pop up in my compositions. Still lifes often feature favourite objects or flowers in the foreground with a peek through to the outside world beyond.
Complementing my studio practice, I have run a comprehensive programme of creative art workshops for many years, teaching adults, children and groups with special needs in a variety of different venues including Art in Aldeburgh and Old Bank Studios, private houses and also from my own studio. I have run children's workshops at Gainsborough's House, The Art Society, Colchester and the Mansion House, Ipswich to name but a few. If you are interested in art workshops or classes, please email me to get in touch and I will add you to my mailing list.
