Suffolk based artist James Knights creates bold vibrant pieces that are full of colour. Using his engineering and mathematical background he incorporates elements of technical drawing into his work to give a strong geometric framework to many of his pieces.
Unafraid to experiment he also makes use of collage, found objects or alternative methods of applying paint to create unique pieces where the interaction of different elements is of utmost importance.
The interplay of precise geometric forms with looser and more expressive areas delves into the complexity of human thought and emotions, highlighting the freedom that we all desire, but that most areas of our lives are constrained to follow a series of patterns and rules.
Previously exhibited in group shows at FirstSite (Colchester), The Southbank Centre (London) and at The Affordable Art Fair (London). He has also shown at Parallax Art Fair (London).
