Lino print printmaker responding to the beautiful East-Anglian landscape.
Biography/Details

Original linocuts, framed and unframed. Handmade cards and greetings cards featuring reproductions of my original prints.

I make linocuts inspired by my sketches of the Suffolk countryside and coastline.  I am drawn to landscapes with scope for an expressive composition, with twists, turns and zigzags. I enjoy using a wide range of lino-cutting patterns in multiple colour-saturated layers and creatively exaggerating the shapes of the elements of the landscape.  My aim through my printmaking is to depict the spirit of a landscape whilst celebrating and exploring the natural qualities of linocut.

After completing my BA (hons) in Art at Lancaster University I moved to Suffolk in 2002 where I have developed my printmaking skills at Suffolk College and Gainsborough’s Print Workshop.  I have exhibited in galleries such as Byard Art in Cambridge, Craftco in Southwold and with the Norwich Print Fair. I am a member of the ‘Twelve Printmakers’, Cuckoo Farm Studios, Suffolk Craft Society and a founding member of Print East.

I teach workshops in lino printing at Stoke Bridge Workshops in Ipswich.  I am also able to offer tuition for individuals and small groups in my studio. Please see my website for details or contact me for a chat about your requirements.

Currently I have framed and unframed prints for sale through Craftco in Southwold, Come Hither Gallery in Holbrook near Ipswich, EJaRt Creative in Hasketon near Woodbridge and Harrison & Co in Halesworth.  I also sell direct through my website www.helenmaxfield.com.
