I have painted and sketched for as long as I can remember. To further my interest in Art I gained a BA Joint Honours in English and History of Art at Manchester University and taught both subjects in secondary schools. I furthered my qualifications in practical art teaching by attending a course run by Suffolk LEA.
On retirement I ran the Diss U3A Art Group for twelve years.
I paint and sketch because it is innate and brings me so much pleasure. Colour and patterns which I find in the world around me are my inspiration. I enjoy employing a variety of media and move from one to another as the mood and my interest takes me.
My sketch books are really important to me and have become visual diaries on which I can reflect and refer back to memories which I may use in a final piece. Exhibitions are also of great importance to me. To understand and appreciate the achievements of past and present artists is a source for learning and inspiration.
