I was born and bred in Suffolk and, having grown up on a farm, have always felt most at home in the thick of nature or with animals at my side. I was rarely without a pencil but didn't begin my artistic journey in earnest until my late thirties when I began to draw dogs in pastel for pocket money. In 2016 I experimented with oil-paint and in 2020 threw all my energies into an oil-painting diploma at the Norfolk Painting School. It was here that I learned to paint with feeling and discover a language of my own. Since then I have exhibited across East Anglia, having had work accepted by the Ipswich Arts Society, The Colchester Arts Society and the Institute of East Anglian Art who in 2021 awarded me Highly Commended for my portrait of a blue Whippet. In Autumn 24 my work was exhibited at the Leaping Hare, Wyken Vineyards. I still paint dogs occasionally and continue to accept and welcome commissions in this genre but my first love now is flower-painting and focussing on the great outdoors.
