Having grown up on a farm in Suffolk, my happy place has always been in the heart of nature where I am never without my metaphysical camera or sketchbook. In my late thirties I picked up my pastels and got busy with commissions as a dog portrait artist, specialising in hounds and Whippets. In 2020, I threw all my energies into an oil-painting diploma at the Norfolk Painting School where I discovered a new freedom of expression. With Still Life as my genre, I have developed a Classic Romantic, Post Impressionist twist. Recent exhibitions have included: The Ipswich Arts Society, The Colchester Arts Society, The Leaping Hare at Wyken Vineyards, Heart of Suffolk and The Institute of East Anglian Art where in 2021 I was awarded Highly Commended. This year began with an 'Inspired by Benton End' project working alongside local Suffolk Open Studio artists Rebecca Moss Guyver, Annabel Ridley, Lynne Campen, Sarah Figlio and Rosemary Rayner, all of whom will be opening their studios the same weekend as me. At my studio, The Oil Lamp, I offer one-to-one and small group tuition and occasionally still paint dogs to commission.
