Whether through her writing or artwork, Amanda finds joy in celebrating and supporting nature and wildlife, and revelling in the curious and magical aspects of life.
A lifelong world traveller, Amanda has walked across living root bridges in India, hung out with gorillas and chimpanzees, paddled a dugout canoe down the Congo River, driven the length of Africa – twice – as an overland truck driver . . .
Such experiences, plus her roots in northern England and her love of Suffolk, inspire both her writing and art.
After twenty-five years running an award-winning travel company based in Otley with her husband, Amanda was sadly forced to stop working after the pandemic. Happily, though, this gave her time to explore and expand her love of creating stories and pictures.
Amanda loves creating paintings in both wool (mostly wet felting with merino wool) and soft pastels, which she does from her home studio in Otley. She loves the vibrancy of the colours and the tactile nature of both media. Many of her paintings come with complementary poems or short pieces of prose.
