Suffolk Open Studios Art at Seckford Hall

SOS Artists at Seckford Hall

The beautiful Seckford Hall, a Tudor 4* hotel set in 34 acres of private Suffolk countryside a mile from Woodbridge, is now exhibiting a selection of artwork produced by 13 Suffolk Open Studios artists.

The request for artwork was made as the refurbishment work at Seckford neared completion; Denis Frucot, manager of Seckford Hall, approached Chairman of Suffolk Open Studios, Tom Lund-Lack to find interesting and engaging work from local artists.

On arriving at Seckford, the Tudor grandeur is unmistakeable with its beautiful gardens, woodlands, idyllic lake, not to mention the numerous meticulously clipped box balls. As you enter through the large, heavy oak door, you are instantly welcomed by a warm and cosy atmosphere; numerous antique artefacts sit alongside the elegant and modern range of furniture.

The various pieces of artwork (paintings, mixed media and sculptures) adorn a number of walls in the West Wing, the bar area, the first floor ladies powder room and corridors.

Tom has said, “it’s a wonderful opportunity to exhibit work here at Seckford. It gives the artists exhibiting an amazing platform to be noticed, and at the same time, adds quite an extensive range of artistic styles to the hotel. The artwork is available for purchase and we look forward to working with Seckford over the coming months and years as we continue to display new works”.

The private launch party took place on Wednesday 4th March where the art was unveiled to members of the public and hotel guests.
