Against the Flow with Ivan Robinson

Against the Flow with Ivan Robinson

SOS Associate member Ivan Robinson's painting and photography subjects are rural and urban landscapes, often focusing on small details. He is preoccupied with the 'sense of place'. He hand prints traditional black and white silver halide photographic prints from his own film images. His paintings are in oils and acrylics. It is the combination of geography and art which afford him a unique way of seeing and interpreting landscape.

While studying for a degree in geography, he painted at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art in Oxford where his tutor was Geoffrey Rhoades. After graduating, Ivan went on to complete a post graduate qualification in photography at the London College of Printing, where he was taught by Peter Espe and George Lewinski.

Ivan's paintings and photographs will be on view at a one man exhibition entitled "Against the Flow", at the Highwayman's Gallery, Risby, Bury St. Edmunds, IP28 6QP from 6th - 27th June 2014. (See our event's calendar for more details.)
